The Line of Control
What is established
The Line of Control (LoC) is the ceasefire line that divides Jammu and Kashmir and shapes mobility, security, and everyday life for communities on both sides. It appears in military, diplomatic, and civilian documentation.
What is disputed or contested
The LoC is not an agreed international border. Maps that draw it as a settled frontier overstate what the underlying agreements established.
Terminology used by Dhār
Dhār uses “Line of Control” / “LoC” and treats cartography as sourced illustration, not as a political settlement. Exact coordinates may be generalised or withheld.
Why that terminology is used
LoC is the term used in the ceasefire and subsequent documentation most of the corpus cites. Presenting it as an ordinary national border would be a political claim.
